Sorry, but I think I missed the memo that Maura was a prude. Did I miss that in the show? I cant remember any scenes where this happened? Seriously, I just don't recall, but it is turning up in SO MANY fics that I feel sure I have missed something. Or is it from the books

Er...she's not a prude? Certainly in the show, Maura is depicted as having a healthy interest in sexual exploits. I always figured that she liked sex as some sort of exercise - which is why she explained to Jane that it "wards off colds" etc.

I think maybe some fic writers like Maura to be as physically distant as she is emotionally sometimes, which is odd, because she's capable of some extreme emotions.

I dunno. I watch the show. That's where I get my ideas. Seems simple, right? Bloody fanon rearing its ugly head again...

SOrry :) reading back on my post I realize I probably should have made it more specific. I meant prudish about people swearing. Like a million and one fics have Maura saying "Jane! Language" after she says something like "damn" or "$%^&#$%^(insert choice here)". and I feel like I'm going crazy. like this didnt happen in the show did it?

Maura doesn't really care if you say a norty word, does she?

Is this something from the books?

Cos I just dont buy that she would get offended. she went to med school for chrissakes.

Ahhh, I see.

In the books, Maura swears a bit. I think the character lines are more clearly defined in the show, though, to have her being somewhat prim and proper because of her upbringing. Silly TV shows with their clunky writing, heh.
