Arranged marriages.... I don't think arranged marriages should be as feared as they are. Here's something to think about...

When it comes to liking someone, you either do or you don't. When it comes to wanting to fuck the shit out of someone, you either want to or you don't. When it comes to love though, nobody has it when they start, but as long as the person is caring, and considerate, love can grow with time.

I'm not saying your friend should embrass her arranged marriage, but she shouldn't fear it as being the end of her happiness. Also... think about the groom. He could be in the same boat too. Sharing such a great hardship can bring people closer together than any summer fling ever could.

I think sometimes arrange marriage is a better option because its commitment first, which is marriage in my opnion, not just love. As you said, if it grows on each other it will turn out to be a quite rewarding life experience and a lifelong companion.

As for the summer fling, i dunno about that one, depends on your definition of closeness. =P
