Jun 21, 2013 13:45

In honour of the longest day - and of the tenth anniversary of our first glimpse of the Ministry in Order of the Phoenix - I offer you this ficlet. My apologies to those of you awaiting Invictus 19 that this isn't it, but I hope it may amuse you. :)

Music: The Rough Dancer and the Cyclical Night by Astor Piazzolla. (E.g.)

Dance of defiance - 2310 words, L/Hr, PG )

Oh, this was lovely. A perfect Midsummer fic. The UST was delicious. As was Lucius and Hermione's absolute denial of it.

And your apology for lack of Invictus 19 is not accepted. *g* This was, however, lovely in its own right.

Oh, what a delight!! Talk about sexual tension, and the way you describe the music, the dancing, the emotions it elicits -- *happy sigh* Two of my all-time favorite movie scenes are Arnold Schwarzenegger dancing the tango in True Lies, and the one where Maria and Captain von Trapp dance the Laendler. Ooh, and that polka with Anna and the King of Siam :) I wish everyone still knew how to dance like that...

I'd much rather slap you and walk away -- Hm, are you sure about that?

This particular dance is improvised, so I don't need to remember a set sequence of steps - but I'll have to concentrate even more to follow your lead. I'm sure that amuses you...making me look good is part of what makes you look good. -- Of course it is. It's all about control; everyone else is nothing more than a backdrop for the Malfoy magnificence, right?

"Well, let's see," I say, "how about the time you let me be tortured on your living-room floor?" -- Oh, SNAP!

A stray strand of your hair brushes my shoulder.... ::swoooooon::

We are opposed, you and ( ... )

Thank-you for such a generous response!

Actually, at that point I was sure of that. I suspect the next time he asks she might be more ambivalent. :)

Thank you SO much for this, from a faithful reader and fan :)
It was delicious, just as the reader below described.
I could picture every moment and rhythm as they subtly battled through the dance... so many issues unresolved and unspoken. I loved Hermione's reaction to him and how she was combative from the start, but eventually had to let go somewhat to finish the dance. The fact that he asked her to trust him blew me away, I loved it.
Sigh, he is such a sensual bastard.

You are brilliant. Truly.

that was so good and so beautifully written. Some might say it was the perfect starter for chapter 19, which i am sure is going to published any day now!

I'm still giggling at that response!

I solemnly swear that I am working on Chapter 19.

But as for this little story fitting as the start of it... I know it's been a while, but are you sure you're remembering the same Invictus as I am? ;)

Yay! Then I will stop stalking you...!

I know, Invictus is so dark, I have begun to question myself as to why I am so desperate for more!
