  • On Sunday I inaugurated my new (perfect) sketchbook by drawing the Two of Swords in it. I hope that it doesn't turn out to be a portent.

not knowing much about the tarot, what does the two of swords mean?

it's nice to see vintage photos of ladies not just standing or sitting. although, i must say dear isabel tennant looks a tad too willowy...

The whole of swords contains the harsher life lessons in the deck, and the Two of Swords is no exception. Like all twos, it's a card of balance-but balance hanging on by the skin of your teeth. It means, broadly, that you are in an untenable situation and that you must negotiate your way out of it carefully, without necessarily knowing all the facts or seeing all the potential pitfalls. Don't trip yourself up and don't trust just one source of information.

I don't know, but I am intrigued and intimidated by the female Giants. I bet they are playing the Brooklyn Bruisers, à la Kate Beaton's Bully Ball (with fabulous hats, natch).
