I think if you lived in Madison, you would become a bit jaded to it, complaining that it is overpriced, gimmicky, crowded, slow, and constantly filled with noisy, obnoxious children.

When you are one of those noisy obnoxious children though, it is the most special of special occasions to go there.

Holy crap. I am increasingly convinced that I've spent my entire life in the wrong place. (I'm not quite sure where the right place is, but I'm not in it.)

Is this in any way related to the House on the Rock?

Well, I'm never convinced that I'm in the right place either but I don't think that'll be sorted out with a good balance of friends to do stuff with until the teleport is invented. Shrug.

Ella's happened separately, although they both fall under the heading of unusual, delightful stuff in Wisconsin that everyone dismisses out of hand because it's Wisconsin. (Which is a shame because it's a rather nice state, even if it does spend a lot of time being cold.)

((And I've never actually been to the House on the Rock, to be honest.))

I was first introduced to it by some children masquerading as competent and responsible adults, it is true.

I drove past this beautiful piece of Utopia, staring with longing out the window and sulking for an hour because my driver refused to stray from his whiplash-inducing agenda.

So vexed.

Sigh. The only thing for it is to invent a teleport. I keep saying that.

(How long ago was this? They used to have two locations but closed the second a few years ago. If you were on a road that was a straight shot to the capitol building, it was the original. Which is spiffy in its own special way.)
