Improved And New

I probably ought to have said, "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain," but by now I've finished my tinkerings, making it a moot point. Shiny new journal layout borrowed from thefulcrum and bent to my whim both css-wise and graphics-wise by myself. At the moment I'm not entirely pleased with the sidebar bullet points and the top portion of the ( Read more... )

I like that you have quick comment now. ::pets quick comment::

I always liked your chosen colour scheme which you appear to have kept except that it now looks as if it's been wallpapered* within an inch of its life.

I suppose I shouldn't reveal at this point that when I'm in a hurry I load every page in either style=mine or format=light? No, I didn't think so... ::runs away and hides::

*In the interior decoration sense.

My journal has been . . . been . . . wainscotted! Greyishly, but still. I don't know that I'm entirely sold on that look. I like my pinstripes, you know?

On the up side, I love that my default font is Hoefler and renders oh-so-beautifully in OS X. Since it's mostly me looking at this journal style, I feel I'm allowed that sort of indulgence and I understand why you'd use the format=light.

I like Hoefler too. It's one of the few serif fonts which I find easy to read on a computer screen in average to small point/sizes.

If it's any comfort I always perceive jekesta's lj as green and yours as grey no matter what style I load them in (the same way that, in my head, some people look like one of their icons even after I've seen photos of them).

I have a temperature and no idea if this comment makes sense.

You make much sense despite running a fever. One of my backup emergency poll ideas is a list of my most freqently used icons and a poll to find out which one people perceive me as. I usually don't follow through on this because I already suspect that I've embedded my Steerpike icon too firmly in their minds. If not Steerpike then Violet Baudelaire.

But it's nice to know that I am defaultly, innately grey.

I assume then that this means that the layout isn't broken on browers other than my own (haven't gotten around to checking yet)?

::dances you greyishly::

Thanks! I haven't personally reformatted an online journal since the days of yore, when I was on Diaryland.com, so it took a little bit of work to sort everything out.

You could always find a layout community like thefulcrum and find one that you like - the directions are fairly simple. (And, you know, if you want custom graphics I'd be happy to make some up for you).

Sure thing. Just point me to:

  • modifiable code from a layout that you already like (like the ones I've seen at thefulcrum or somewhere else that doesn't mind alterations.

  • colors that you'd like

  • general theme-ishness that you'd like
