Can't Seem To Make It A Year

Not too long ago, maybe around 15 minutes, I found out that one of my friends' brother had killed himself. He was only 16 years old. I dont really understand the concept of suicide, because all it ends up doing is hurting the people that love them. I guess when it is actually the person contemplating it, it might seem like the only way out. Im not ( Read more... )

Suicide has always remained a mystery to me, and I hope I never dare to flirt with the idea of it. My thought as to why some contemplate it is because they feel that life on the "other side" would have to be better than their current life. It's a horrible reality, for help is always available to those who feel they're better off dead.

My condolences to those affected by this tragedy.

That's terrible. I'm so sorry to hear that.

In my experience, those who commit suicide are feeling so much pain (physical or mental) that they just want it to end. They don't always realize how much they are loved or how much they will hurt other people. And they don't always give us signs, unfortunately. Or if they do, they're so subtle that we don't realize they were signs.

I complete agree in my 20 years I don't know how many friends that have passed by taking their own lives, and sometimes you can't help but blame yourself. Wondering how you could not have seen the signs and how you could of helped them. I also don't understand how someone would want to take their own life, but no one knows what goes on in someones head. Hang in there like to say life gets easier but it doesn't.

I am sorry to hear about your friend's brother that is awful. Several years ago there was this girl that lived down the street from me that went to my school that killed herself. She was only 18 years old. There was Fire trucks and ambulances there and it happened on a friday night. Talk about a downer for the weekend. I know death is not easy. My grandfather died a year and two months ago. It was sudden. One moment he was fine the next he was rushed to the hospital. He died right after my Uncle Steve said he loved him. I was just 30 minuites away. My mom called me earlier that night saying it was serious and to come on. I learned that night to cherish every moment with your family because you never know when it is going to be your last.
