Um, there's an lj strike? What are the details? I'm guessing it has something to do with the elimination of basic accounts, but I hadn't heard about the strike.

Curiously, the tiny percentage of people who are actually striking aren't really going to make a dent, and those that don't strike aren't going to hurt the cause of those that do, since those that do can't actually win it.

Besides, all users agreed to what happened by using the site. It's in the ToS, and it's been there for over two years.

"LiveJournal reserves the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice at any time. You agree that LiveJournal shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service."

That said, I'm afraid that the strike is against something that all users have agreed to.

I'm also really unclear why people are striking, especially since basic accounts still exist. brad doesn't even make a cohesive argument, really.

Pretty much.

You know, I've never seen an ad on LJ.

Then again, I haven't had a basic account since before SixApart purchased the site.
