I haven't posted in a while (busy at work) so to save space I'm putting some of these up without comments, but they are all worthy of peek, even the funny sounding ones.

movies, society, technology, politics, science

Here's a SL link you might have missed which is just really kind of interesting: http://www.wired.com/news/columns/0,72143-0.html?tw=wn_index_3

That is interesting! I had seen something about the Copybot problem, but not all the ramification and what Linden Labs intended to do about it. Thanks for the link!

What kills me about the story about Tango Makes Three is that one librarian made the book MORE acceptable by moving it to the "nonfiction" section - wouldn't that be even MORE offensive to the people who were !!! about it by giving it credibility? Or was it moved to the nonfiction adult section to hide it from teeny little eyes?

God, it still kind of surprises me how differently we can all see the world. A mother realized it was a story about penguins loving each other and had to stop reading it? I... find I have nothing civil to say about that.

New Line decides to shop this around after a contract dispute.

But... but... what? Are they insane?!

I know! "Thanks for having artistic vision, creating probably the best movie trilogy ever made, winning 11 Oscars, and making us a ton of money. But since we have this small argument, you can know go away while we totally destroy these other stories that are totally bound up with your original movies." WTF?!

Well, Disney finally came to it's senses about Pixar, so maybe there is hope. But, man, can people be stupid.
