Face Book Frightens Me

There's alot of folks now that are using Face Book. I've more than once went to the site and started to sign up, but didn't. I took the time to look over the privacy policy and it scares me. The fact that signing up for it means that Facebook is collecting tons of data on you. And this information is available to any one of their associates kinda ( Read more... )

Most of the privacy concerns come from the stuff where a user is dumb enough to give their credit card number to Facebook. Other than that, I haven't gotten spam from Facebook; just targeted ads, which for me is no more invasive than Gmail.

It's Facebook's new layout that annoys me. I hate the DIY look of MySpace, but new Facebook is so....different. I can't put my finger on it, but I don't like it. I'm hoping some smart person writes a FireFox shell to make the layout look like old Facebook.

I second Professor Roscoe -- and Facebook's privacy settings are actually farly thorough. I'm all but unsearchable, and you can control what info goes out to the public.
