Finally, after much speculation about when it was going to appear, Amazon has their e-book reader, the Kindle, on the market. I blog about it today over at the IBR. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
My publisher emailed me this morning about the Kindle. Is it similar to the Sony one? I so want one of those but at 399 dollars it's still too expensive for me. Maybe in six months it'll be cheaper? My husband thinks that once an ebook reader comes out that is reasonable in price that ebooks will be hot. Right now though I still think they are too expensive for the average person.
Well...not as flashy as the Sony, but the same e-paper screen, yes. And it uses "Kindle" which is Mobipocket, since Amazon now owns Mobi, so I think you can upload other Mobi books to it, which you can't with Sony - only Sony books. Sony charges an arm and a leg to convert .pdf to Sony format, so it's pretty limited where you can get the books with Sony.
I like the wireless and Wikipedia on the fly features. Still too expensive. Half the price and I'd get one.
I agree. If it was half price I'd buy one. I love the idea behind the reader. I checked out the Sony ebook reader at my local Borders and LOVED it! My husband said it uses liquid paper and the feature that you can make the print larger is great.
