I've never been a big YA fan.

I tend to like it because the writing style is usually pretty simple and direct. I often lose patience with "artistic," flowery writing. I still haven't read that much of what's current in YA, though, and it does seem like there's a lot of trash being published in that genre. There are also some really great reads, though -- it's just a question of digging to find the good stuff.
