Top Ten Tuesday: Books to read in a day

Apr 03, 2012 00:53

The task for this week's Top 10 Tuesday is to pick ten books you'd read in one day (but not all 10 in the same day, obviously!). So here are ten books that sucked me in with a vengeance, some of which have definitely only taken me a single day to read.

1. Jennifer Echols, Going Too Far: A YA romance with realistic, believable and relatable ( Read more... )

Thanks! I really enjoy making lists, even though sometimes it's hard for me to come up with 10.

I like your list. It surprised me with titles I have not seen on other lists. Thank you.

I especially liked the reminder of the Mary Stewart books. My mom let me read her Mary Stewart books when I was a teen. I wonder what I'd think of them now, as a older person?

Ciao!

Here's my Top Ten Books to Read in a Day. Let me know what you think of my list!

It seems like a lot of people first encountered Mary Stewart in their teens, but somehow I didn't discover her until adulthood. I still really like her books, but I wonder how my perception would be different if I'd read her as a teen first.

'Miss Pettigrew Lives for a day' sounds brilliant! I love 1920's settings and this sounds as though it would be really immersed in the culture of the time and go to town with it! Thanks for introducing me to it!

I think I actually made a small error there...Miss Pettigrew was published in 1939, so it might be set in the '30s rather than the '20s. The atmosphere is very similar though -- lots of dancing and nightclubs and jazz music and that sort of thing. I hope you enjoy the book!

I would have put Perkins and Echols (and a bunch of other YA authors) on my list but I decided to go with ones that I actually had read in a day! And it was nice to see that there were more than ten of those!

I still haven't read Miss Pettigrew but I'll get to it one day! I'm interested in The Spirit Thief, I'll have to look into it - and Mary Stewart (who I always confuse with Mary Wesley for some reason!), I've never read hers.

Here's my list.

I'm impressed that you stuck so closely to the theme of the challenge! I'm sure I read some of the books on my list in a single day, but generally I was just trying to think of books that made me want to read the whole thing in one sitting, regardless of whether or not I actually did.
