I didn't know she wrote books for adults either, but apparently she was quite prolific! People only know about The Secret Garden and Little Lord Fauntleroy, but she wrote a lot of other books, many for adults (according to the back of my copy of the book, at least)!
Seems like there might be more FHB books out there for me to discover. Have you read The Little Princess? One of my most favourites when I was eight or nine.
Never read The Little Princess, though I believe I have seen a movie version or two. Before Marchioness, The Secret Garden was the only FHB book I'd read. It's still on my bookshelf though! :)
I saw this review when you posted it; I was going to comment but I thought I'd wait til I read the book first since it was in my TBR pile.
I really enjoyed this book--Emily trod the perfect line for me. She was optimistic and helpful and appreciative without being Pollyanna. I was also so pleased with her relationship to Agatha.
