I have a lot of great friends who are in relationships, and ever since college I've come to accept that that's just going to be a part of social life from now on. (Not that in most cases I resent that, since I've come to consider some of my friends' boyfriends as my own close friends.) So it's great to read things that encourage others in our demographic to embrace our single status, instead of--the author's right--treating it as an obstacle. Though like you, I have no idea what that really means, it does reassure me to be comfortable in my own skin.
It can be tough when all your friends seem to be in relationships (or -- ack -- getting married!). Several of my friends are still single, but I've been to quite a few weddings in the past few years too. I don't resent those who are in relationships, but I'll admit to being a bit envious of what they have. :) The book gave me a timely reminder, though, that I should be making the most of these single years and enjoying them!
