I'm with you in wanting more romance. Really I wanted there to have been more space to really get into the two characters. I liked them, so I wanted more.

I really did want to know more about their relationship! For example, how long have they been in love with each other? Why does Dreadnought act like such a jerk initially? There was so much going on with the plot that the characters just couldn't be as fully developed. I think my problem is that I was expecting more romance, given that the book's tagline was something like, "Love is the most powerful magic of all." Which would seem to imply that the romance would be pretty central!

You have a good point. I think that was what pushed it over to a must buy for me. I'm mollified by the fact that there's a book 2 so we get to see more. :)

*Spoiler alert*

It looks like they're engaged at the start of Book 2, so I'm very optimistic that we'll get to see more of their relationship! Although of course they'll have that South American goddess to worry about too.

LOLOL you have no idea what my reaction was to the summary alone. I went "WHAT???" about five times. So much stuff going on!!

It sounds really interesting, I'll be sure to pick it up if I have time, thanks for reviewing :)

Haha, yes, it's definitely a packed world! There are a lot of different magical systems, as well as a few elements that are only mentioned in one scene (the zombies being an example). It's a fun book though!
