I don't have a paid account on lj anymore and most of my icons are inactive now. I didn't know that could happen :/
I thought I could use all of them and I just couldn't upload more.

When I had an unpaid account, I kept a folder for icons & rotated them through. It's definitely more of a hassle though.

I've never bought a paid account but a friend of mine bought it for me for a few months. Now it's gone :(

*hugs* I hear you about the paid account. I pay yearly, but after my subscription ends in September, I'll probably end my paid account. Not sure what that will do to my other 'comms'! Oh, boy!!

Yeah, icons go away unless you pay for them. I think you get 15 icons for unpaid accounts...
