Oh wow, I didn't realize I made this group of non-sequiturs and inside jokes a public post, but thanks for the vote of confidence. Grandma died in California about 5 years ago, and we're finally going to have a service for her this weekend. She wasn't a particularly avid churchgoer, and since I'm a eucharistic minister, that makes me about as close to a man of the cloth as we're going to get

My grandmother took me to see my first R rated movie, Carnal Knowledge back in 1971 or so. I was 15 at the time. No big deal, but I wanted her to take me to see Behind the Green Door when it first came out and she refused......she said it was not age appropriate for me.....but I was 16, and that was very age appropriate.

I still remember seeing movie listings for pornos at the Asher Drive-in. I remember seeing The Empire Strikes Back there as a kid, as well as Hooper. Then it stopped showing Hollywood movies, and started showing movies from the Beautiful San Fernando Valley. I always wondered how many people going to eat at Casa Bonita saw the screen on the way in to dinner.
