Now, that's a big board. You'd need a whole bee hive just to wax that fucker up. I think that whey you see Haleiwa, you'll want to move there:)

I'm surprised that you didn't catch that the board is a Softtop, and requires no wax. But it didn't make any difference, because I never got to the point of standing on the board.

We did make it up to Hailewah today, but I didn't require that to want to move here...I pretty much wanted to as soon as I got off the plane.

I did get a sticker today that says "Surfing Sucks...don't try it" I got a kick out of that.

On closer inspection, I see that it is a softtop. Those boards might be harder to use than a regular longboard....I don't know. I rarely see a softtop, as anyone using one at our beach would be promptly kicked out, and set afire.

Are you going to do another go out?

I have that same sticker on my car.

I found it to be incredibly awkward to carry that massive sumbitch down to the water, and when we were paddling out, I was fighting with it a lot. The tide was pretty low, but we were told that we should have headed out to Waikiki instead. I did like the fact that there was no one else on that particular beach to see me make a fool of myself, but my first attempt was kind of an abortion.

Not sure if we're going to have time to make another attempt this time around, because we have a pretty full schedule, but I'm already planning on a return trip next summer, and I'm going to budget more time for surfing, because I won't be happy until I've at least learned what it feels like to stand on a surfboard in the water. I'm still not 100% with my recovery, but I plan on being in much better shape next summer.

I love Hawaii! Beware the mormons as they run the polynesian cultural center and the bigassed temple next door.

Have fun!

I was unaware that BYU had a campus here until today, and was surprised to learn that they run the center. But since my house is 5,000 miles away, I'm not that scared of them.

But I had a blast there today...very cool place, and I feel like I learned a lot. I was disappointed that there were no rides, though.
