Caritas in Veritate - Initial Analysis

One thing is for certain: one should not look to this Pope seeking sound bites. This Encyclical, Caritas in Veritate - Charity in Truth, is a very dense 30,000 words. I have some initial reactions to the first half of the Encyclical:

That's very interesting, Michael. I'm really curious if the world will pick up christian ideas about the current crisis. However, what I am missing is an idea about what other world religions will do, particularly Islam. And then there's the many secular or at least unreligious people in Russia, China and Japan. Somehow we must appeal to common sense, but common sense itself goes through many revolutions in this time.
