Interesting point.. I have never heard that slant on that chapter of Luke before, but I think you made some really good points. Clearly the process of growth as Christians is just that: A Process.. not instant.

My dad has a garden and really cares for all of its plants. He waters them, plants them, fertilizes them ... and I imagine God does the same with His garden. There is a psalm that suggests even animals are watched over and sort of pray in their own way to God giving them food.
Nature is very important. It does play a big role in our communication with God. In my country, Germany, the seasons are markedly different from each other, and given that God makes the seasons come and go, watching them develop allows for seeing God at work and thanking Him for what He does.
