Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope that I have that ( Read more... )

Thank you, that is exactly what I needed.

God Bless.

Sure!

O most tender Mother, invoking the mystery of thy Immaculate Conception, I place under thy patronage all my studies and literary efforts. I affirm that I follow them especially in order that I may the better to promote the glory of God and devotion to thee. Therefore I beseech thee, most loving Mother, Seat of Wisdom, that thou wouldst deign to look with favor on my labors; and I, on my part, (which is but just), freely and fervently promise that whatever good may thence result to me I will refer to Thy intercession with God.

This speaks directly to one of my situations. I am in a transition period in my ministry. I am realizing that although transitions are not easy, I still have to maintain my focus.

Thanks for posting

Good luck to you! Prayer is always they key. There is an excellent book written by St. Francis de Sales that may interest you, Finding God's Will for You. Peace!

I love that passage. Thanks for posting it. It's truly one of those things we need to read/hear or see from time to time.

Definitely. I promised chaeri that I would post a Merton reflection sometime soon. I'll probably follow this up with another one sometime soon, because he deserves a little more face time in this community, I think :)

That was a good one. Long before I knew who Merton was, I had heard that passage before.

So, my Christian Prayer arrived Wednesday-- and I read the Praying the Psalms last night. I'm working through the booklet my priest gave me and am looking forward to starting.

It's funny, I have Thoughts in Solitude, and I never really noticed it before. Then someone printed it out for my dad, and it really hit me. It's really perfect. Merton almost always has something to say that I need to hear.
