Today's readings are from Dan 9:4b-10, Ps 78:8-9,11,13, Luke 6:36-38One of the important things to remember about the Psalms is that they are God's way of teaching us how to pray. The Psalms are how God wants us to worship Him

I like the linkage of worship and forgiveness. The love that animates our worship is normatively linked to our ability to apprehend the forgiveness He has provided to us. It's the "forgiven much, loves much" paradigm.

Primarily because it is to our greatest benefit. To worship God simply means to have one's soul ordered directly towards its greatest good. God is the source of all that is good and beautiful, God is the source of all happiness, and worshiping God sets our soul directly towards God, so that we might receive the happiness and joy and beauty and love for which we are created ( ... )

Perhaps because there is a certain kind of absolute "rightness" to it -- like when I kiss my wife, embrace a friend, tousle my son's hair, or wave at a neighbor. Certain acts express the nature of a given relationship. The nature of our relationship with God (adoring, acknowledging, submitting) is most plainly expressed in the act of worship.
