A Marriage Promptathon for June :)
Hi, everyone. :)
When I posted the prompts for May, I mentioned that I had something different in mind for June prompts. I’ve been wanting to do something that will hopefully inspire more writers and prompt - pun intended - more interaction on the comm. :) And, a conversation with a good friend of mine, cruorem, gave me an idea. We were talking about the sad way that marriage is often portrayed in fics - either it’s ignored completely, or it’s shown in a sad light, or it’s twisted somehow. And we both agreed that it would be really nice to see marriage celebrated for once.
So, for the month of June, that’s exactly what CFF will do. :) We are going to have a marriage promptathon.
Het Marriage Promptathon: The Basics
All fandoms are welcome, and so are original fic and poetry. We’ll welcome all het pairings in any of those categories. :) Do you have a favorite couple that tied the knot in canon? Write about them and their marriage! Or, is there a couple you ship that never actually made it down the aisle? Here’s your chance to fix that, and explore what could have been!
But, this promptathon isn’t just limited to the wedding itself. Focus on any stage of marriage you’d like to - engagement, wedding, honeymoon, children, growing old together…whatever inspires you. :) And no, not every fic has to have a happy ending. If you have a tragic, heartbreaking idea, go for it! But, since this is meant to be a celebration of marriage, please don’t portray marriage itself in a negative light.
What will the promptathon look like?
The prompts will start at the beginning of June, and will continue for the entire month. Every week will have a different theme about marriage. (For example, week one’s theme will be the marriage vows.) For every week there will be a written prompt, a Bible verse prompt, a song prompt, and a picture prompt. You can use any or all of them for inspiration.
What if I have an idea, but it doesn’t match any of the prompts?
Fics posted don’t have to match the week’s theme. If you have an idea for a fic that somehow involves marriage, you can post any time during the month! There will also be a prompt thread where anyone can post their marriage related prompts. The goal is just to inspire you. :)
Rules for the Promptathon:
1. Het marriage only, (one man, and one woman) in accordance with comm rules.
2. As everyone knows, an important aspect of marriage is physical intimacy. But, if you want to include it in your fic, in accordance with comm rules, keep everything rated PG-13 or below, and do not make it the focus of the story. If you aren’t sure what the comm rules are, please see our community info page. Or, if you have specific questions about your story, comment on this post, or talk to the mod, laughtersmelody.

I’ll be advertising this promptathon on a few different comms, and I’ll also post an official invite that anyone can copy so they can advertise on their own journals or other comms. (Please do check to make sure that your post won’t violate that comm’s rules.)
