I check LJ often enough but I scarcely update because I feel like I'm always writing as it is. That, and it seems that more and more people are jumping off the LJ-update bandwagon so it's easy to pick up on trends. Also, back in 2001 I had less to talk about so I had a lot to say. Now that life has smacked me around a bit and my head is full, I ( Read more... )

it does feel like the end of the lj era, to me at least. I mean, I guess I already wrote an entry to this effect, but it, by coincidence, was on my mind as I clicked my bookmark to check my friendspage. I think people are just tending to separate into the extremes of twitter or true blogging, and lj sits kind of uncomfortably in the middle.

but yeah basically every word you wrote in the very first paragraph there could apply to me (you're writing a lot of actual writing, and I'm writing a lot of notes in class, but still...).

I wonder about our off-the-record future moves. Maddy and I talk about it a fair bit, and nothing's very concrete, and the frustrating thing is that we always come to the same conclusion which is that neither of us likes San Jose all that much, but it's the best place for us to be. Other places are all too far from family, too far from viable jobs for her, viable client bases for me, or too far from good schools, and so on.

A lot of people have been moving away from LJ, but I can't ever see myself leaving. If I don't feel like making an update everyone can read, I put in on private. If I don't feel like updating, I don't. It comes and goes.

I think it's takes a lot to move away and then move back. I honestly don't see myself (and either does Joe) ever leaving Fresno. Unless Joe gets a crazy insane job offer, it just won't happen.

I'm in the same boat... I rarely update LJ, and when I do, it tends to be either private or directed at specific individuals.
You definitely need to get back to CA, though! Or at least come visit.
