I think you should go for the junior level designer positions and work your way up the career ladder if the pay is decent enough to help with paying the loans.

Yeahhh, it's tough to get a job in California and I live in that state. x_x Don't give up, though! I think you can still convince the employers and such that you plan to relocate California without needing a California address.

Ditto on getting a job in California. I live in California and I am fortunate enough to have two part time jobs but it's not enough. I am job hunting often. Typically if I don't see some one in person or talk to some one on the phone I've wasted my time applying.
