Painting can be such a daunting and messy task! Another option, instead of paint, is to put fabric on the the walls. It sounds expensive, but honestly, just find a color or pattern that you like and get a staple gun. You can concentrate on one or two accent walls, while leaving the others off white if you wish. Best thing is that when and if you decide to move, all you have to do is take down the fabric and things are back to the same boring off white.

Interesting idea! Maybe I should trot down to Remnants R Us and see what they might have in the bargain bins! Certainly a cheaper alternative than 17th century tapestries! xo chrisc0

you touch a nerve here, with a picture of sumwhat sedentary complacency, because i trulee fukn love where i live, and i repainted but a single room when i moved in a decade ago --or was it longer-- and otherwise everything is exactly the same. and it's perfect for me. it's amazing when people talk of growing restive in their environs and wanting to shuffle the deck for the sake of shuffling it. i know that's not what you're talking about but there's a good deal of it that goes on: people get bored.
don't you dare move until i get to pay you a visit-- vancouver is my first choice for escaping what could become an all-american reich, and i cannot imagine a better place to rest at the end of a fact-finding day than your patio, kitty cat be damned.

As Robert Frost put it so well, "Home is where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in."
On the other hand, Ambrose Bierce defined "resident" as "unable to leave."
I don't really want to move, I just want my place to be larger and the walls to be cleaner! Perhaps some trompe l'oeil murals on the walls might be the answer, although I might start feeling that I am living in a Greek restaurant.
well dude i need only enough floor space to squash my 190cm body..ill sleep anywhere..but i dont think id be good at painting. id like to see the hares parade though for sure..love ya xo
noah, if you bring your 190cm body to canada, it won't be on the floor that you'll be squashing your body! the hares parade in early august. want me to reserve some square footage in my bed? xo chrisc0
I'm like Ken--repainted one room after moving here almost 6 years ago, and that's been it. Before painting that room, I pulled down the hideous fake wood paneling, then had the room sheetrocked and a closet built, so it was already empty when it came time to paint. On that endless list of things to do "someday" is pull up the ugly beige carpeting in the livingroom and diningroom and get the floors refinished, then repaint both of those rooms, but it sounds like wayyy too much work, so it'll probably stay as it is for awhile still.
Hey Mass, only nine years to go and your beige carpeting and walls will be as ancient as mine are now. I can't pull up the ugly beige carpeting, so have hidden a lot of it with "occasional" rugs from home depot and ikea. Why can't home decorating be as simple as changing the colour scheme in our livejournals?
