I cried reading that, and I've been emotional about it since I saw you yesterday morning. It's a very rare privilege to see someone come into the world, particularly for those of us who don't have our own children. I am so very glad for you that you could be there, and glad for Katie and for Sophie that you could be there too. Congratulations.
Congratulations! What an amazing experience for you. I'm glad she had you there - having gone through it myself recently (for the first time despite it being my first child) I can't think of anything worse than not having a trusted person there to help you through it.
No worries. I couldn't NOT share it. Mother and child are well; baby's feeding and sleeping and Mum's getting some rest too. I'll be visiting them again today.
I think I'd rather be involved like you were. Katie obviously has a lot of love and respect for you and you'll be involved in the munchkins' life.
Doesn't really compare to being in the right/wrong place at the right time. Right for me, wrong for her, I imagine most mothers would rather have an expert experienced medical team on standby, fully equipped and toting lots of pain killers rather than one bloke with badly remembered first aid training and a pocket knife...
