I've been having quite heated discussions recently with people about Paleo diets and, in particular, grains. In short, we've had more than 400 generations since we settled down with the whole agriculture thing, which is more than enough time for us to change and adapt quite a lot.

We've probably had 3000+ since we left Africa... which is a LOT of generations for things to change.

There's some really obvious genetic mutations in different groups already be it metabolizing grain, drinking milk or drinking alcohol.

And the article mentions that pre-agricultural humans were eating grain - they just weren't cultivating it.
