To say that I frequently disagree with Rand Simberg, the proprietor of Transterrestrial Musings, is the understatement of the week. The only thing I would disagree with you on, is moving priority three to first place. Without significantly reducing launch costs, manned space travel isn't really worth it. Robots can do the same thing at a fraction of the cost and risk.

Well, if the really long-term goal is to colonize space (which I think it should be) robots, by definition, can't do all we want to in space.
