Ah... What have I learned from Nano? Well, Nano 2009 taught me a few things. First, not to be overconfident. I'm a fast writer, so I blew off the first couple weeks fully convinced that I could catch up without a problem. I'm not saying I didn't. I did. But the pressure there was rather intense, going into week three without the twenty thousand words I should have had. That led me to lesson number two. I was so worried about word count and kept getting tripped up by the early stuff that I allowed myself to be talked into skipping ahead to make that count. I love the stuff in the beginning, love the stuff at the end, but I don't know how I'll get from that beginning to that end, and some of it will probably not work if I write the way I usually do and let the characters carry the story because they will change and disrupt my plans. Happens every time
