An End of a Decade... 1999 - 2009

Dec 28, 2009 23:01

Wow. The year 2009 is coming to an end. So much has happened just this year alone! But shall we all become a wee nistalgic and look back on my last decade? Well... it's my journal, so yes!

Wow, the things that happen within a decade. Seems like a lot at the time, but in retrospect, not so much ^^
I never knew these things, very cool:)
Well, here's to the new year, and let's see what happens in the new decade :D

I can remember where I was ten years ago when this awful decade came into being. Believe it or not, when I rang in the new year on January 1, 2000, I was not only stone-cold sober - I was at church! My then-girlfriend and I attended a special midnight mass at the local Catholic church to welcome in, not only a new decade, but a new century and a new millennium. I remember feeling filled with optimism. By entering this new era, I felt, we could wipe the slate clean. Maybe this would be a new age of peace, love, brother and sisterhood. EVERYBODY SING ( ... )

You scally wag you, now you've made me want to write something similar to this awesome piece!

I find it incredibly funny that whilst you were graduating high school in 1999, I was graduating College after attending for 3yrs, and we are the same age!!! How bizarre is that?!

I can not believe we have known each other so long, it's so weird and almost seems like a life time ago we were all on TATC message board.

How can so much happen in 10yrs?! Wow... *hugs*

It's been quite a ride, hasn't it? And unlike the interesting anonymous commenter I don't see this past decade as "awful"... just interesting. It had its ups and downs for sure (and tell me why again people feel the need to get down and dirty about politics? ... oh that's right they post anon... heh silly me...).

I think you have inspired me to post a similar retrospective in my LJ... if I get the time before New Years prep and stuff...

Here's hoping the next decade will be a blast. *crossing fingers*
