The Gibbon is now a certified diver. Or as certified as 4 days of training can make The Gibbon, anyway. It's not like The Gibbon will be discovering Atlantis anytime soon, unless it happens to be a few feet beneath the surface and everybody else just kinda failed to spot it until now ( Read more... )

Ah, you want to watch out for that diving stuff. I've seen people learn to dive, and then toss aside their normal lives to study marine biology instead (true story: drown_not_wave). Diving leads to the Dark Side. Or at least to multiple biology degrees.

Some of us probably aren't allowed to dive - sigh.
An excuse for gadgetry on the other hand... :-)

Cuba and beaches - apparently the trick is to avoid the beaches next to the oil refineries. Apparently the brochures take their photos carefully. I have a cool wooden face mask from Cuba.

Ah yes. The Gibbon's normal life. What was that again?

The Gibbon probably won't want to spend too much time on Beaches in Cuba. Been on Caye Caulker for 2 weeks, which is a pop. 600 island of white sand, 1 mile x 200 meters (approx). Beaches have been thoroughly done this month.

Probably not allowed to dive?

Well if you're avoiding the beaches anyway it should all be easy.

Asthmatics and diving don't mix apparently. Although it does seem the the link of bad with asthma isn't very well studied and mild asthma (like me) probably can dive if someone is willing to take a small risk...

P.S. metame says almost been there to caye Caulker (either that island or one very near by...)
