Have you talked to a doctor about it? Seems kind of bizarre.

I haven't talked to a migraine doctor since I was about 14 or 15, except in an emergency room the early summer of 2000.

My symptoms are fairly common for a "classic" migraine; 4th paragraph down. The only difference is that my "auras" generally extend 1-3 hours before the pain starts, can be caused by a particular physical trauma, and occur at a somewhat regular frequency.

Based on what is present in the WebMD article I just linked, it seems possible, if not likely, that my almost-scheduled migraines are brought on by somewhat periodic stresses in my life. I could offer perhaps a half-dozen or so major stresses for the last few weeks, and if I were to look back on my blog on those other days, I may be able to dig up the reasons then.

In any case; the pain passed, I got to see some people I wanted to see, and aside from a light headache (that may persist for another day), I'm doing fairly well.

Yeah, numbness on one side of your body isn't a good thing. I would see the urgent care folks.

Well, it is a fairly standard symptom of a "classic" migraine, and I have had this particular set of symptoms before. We'll see if I get time to go to my regular doctor before I head off to Latvia.

That's like the one I got when Ryan had to come pick me up from work and I cried and cried and couldn't see out of my left eye and felt like I was being stabbed in the side of my head and made run-on sentences like nobody's business. Oh Josiah, I feel your pain!

I did OK, we happened to have the right kind of drugs on hand to make me better. I'm sorry you went through that pain. *hug*

In a pinch that new Advil migraine helps to take the edge off. Otherwise Maxalt did really well for me with no side effects. Do you take Imitrex? I know most people take that.

Yep, imitrex for me. At some point I should tell you about my first exposure to imitrex, though perhaps not on LJ.
