Remember kids, cite everything, because apparently your professor won't call you in and ask about the reference.

IMO, she deserves the $832,000. Had they talked to her for 5 minutes at the beginning, the entire thing would have been a funny anecdote. Right now, it is a relatively positive ending to a stupid story of a shitty professor and a good

I agree completely. That's why I think she deserves the $832,000. They spent years tarnishing her image, without even notifying her of the suspicions.

I have to agree with the decision of the court on this one. The university arguing that this would stop other people from reporting abuse is rediculous, because this case didn't really have anything to do with the fact that they reporte the possible abuse, but with how poorly they handled that reporting. Yes, it's important to err on the side of caution, but there are really easy ways to be cautious while still protecting the rights of the people who are accused. Even in cases of abuse, the maxim has to be innocent until proven guilty.
