The beauty of homeschooling is that EVERYTHING is a project and every moment is an opportunity for learning. There isn't a block of time set aside for 'now we are having 'school'' and a time that is necessarily ever 'learning free'. So yes, this was a project. But it was MY project. The kids just got involved. ; ) I've learned a LOT!! And they've learned a bit. Maybe next year one of them will want to build & run an incubator parallel to mine, and then it will be theirs. :)
I have an Instructable up on how to build an incubator, too, which they can follow if they want. It's had 1050 views since I put it up, although I did a complete revamp with all new pictures, a couple of weeks ago.
I can't keep these chicks, though. I have 3, and that's all Ryan wants us to have. If my hens ever do start laying (sigh), that will be 2-3 eggs a day, which is all we can eat and probably enough to let us give some away.
These chicks will go out to a friend's house. She raises chickens, and has some of these breeds anyway. :)
