It was easier then I thought it'd be. Trackin' down the demon. Although once you got within a few city blocks it was easy to see why. C wasn't kiddin' when she said the thing reeked, cause seriously...it smelled like all the sewage in L.A. backed up and overflowed onto the streets. My hands itched from the detergent I'd used. It was good, I guessed, gave me something else to focus on than the vision. Something else to focus on while I waited for Faith.
"I'll be fine," Faith gave me one of those 'don't worry about me' smiles, "Got these wicked slaying powers, remember?"
"Just be careful, okay?" I left it unsaid that I couldn't lose her too. Seemed kind of like a jinx to me, sending her out with a less than stellar view of her abilities. I mean what would I say? 'Don't die, please?' "And don't go after that thing alone."
I watched as she headed out, mouthed three words behind her back that I hadn't quite worked up the courage to say to her yet and turned back to my cleaning...Every surface gleamed now. There was no flash of relief with that statement. My heart didn't stop jackhammering in my chest and I knew, instinctively, that something was wrong. Very wrong.

Get her from where? What the hell had she been doing? She was supposed to go out and get information, she'd promised me that she wouldn't do anything stupid. She'd promised.
