So the date has moved by a little over a week. Has sanity settled back in during my absence?

[Sanity may have settled in, but Inspector Javert himself looks terribly out-of-sorts. Despite his week-long sleep, he does not look well-rested. Unfortunately (or fortunately, to some) his hair has not grown back, either; the short crop given to him has ( Read more... )

[....snickering.]

Maybe you should ask your wife about that!

[Very subtle twitch in his jaw. Otherwise, Javert is exceedingly calm.]

I would if I had one, Monsieur.

It seemed like you had one, last week!

Or did you divorce the dear doctor, already?

Ah, that.

[He sounds impassive, nearly bored. In a flat tone,]]

It was annulled, I think.

Uh... *Is caught for a moment with nothing to say, thrown off guard by the hair and the unwanted sense of sudden familiarity. Get it together, Danny--that week never happened.* You're, uh, up.

*All but grimaces at himself, before clearing his throat and adding,* No more mass-hallucinations or dinosaur attacks have happened, if that's what you mean.

Apparently.

[Javert, on the other hand, receives the boy calmly. There is no visible difference in his demeanor than usual - no different than what Danny may remember, too. Perhaps a stronger sense of gloom hangs about this Javert as opposed to the Inspector that called himself Danny's father, but otherwise, he should be familiar. Through his teeth, he says,]

And I don't think we're due for another for a few more weeks.

*Perhaps more obvious than Javert's subtle nuances, the Danny here is also not quite the son he so recently was. Though clearly still awkward (and with his trademark way with words), one could almost call him withdrawn--a strange label for Danny, of all people. Strange, but understandable; after all, even without circumstances like these, he's not the same person.*

*Grins darkly at the Inspector's deadpan remark.* Maybe we'll get something weird, this time. You know, like 'bright, sunny days', or--flowers that don't eat people, or anything.

I wouldn't gamble on it. Though the churchyard daisies are a safe bet, if 'normal flowers' are what you want.

Welcome back, Sir.

I've filed a few reports already. The remaining ones should be on your desk this afternoon.

[Akihiko will just avid any and all matters that pertain to the fact this man was his recently considered his father. It's for the best.]

[Javert brushes off the greeting with an arched brow and a curt nod. He is equally nonchalant, Akihiko. You may rest easy. Though it may or may not be obvious to the young policeman that Javert is wholly avoiding pronouncing the name "Sanada" - just in case another name slips from his mouth, instead.]

Good work. How much can I expect?

It's a fair amount. More than I expected to see. If I had to guess, I'd say it'll probably take us a week or so to finish speaking to witnesses, provided they cooperate.

A week for a week. That's reasonable.

Have you brought any scoundrels to the holding cells?

Bonjour.

[It isn't a warm greeting, but it isn't exactly cold or nasty. Javert stares on back at Kay for what may feel like an eternity. He understands perfectly well why she is speechless, but he is not one to avoid or dance around issues. He releases a low, weary sigh.]

What do you want, Mademoiselle Faraday?

[There's so many other questions she wants to ask, things she wants to say, but for now a simple question will do]

I just- I just didn't know if you knew if Mr. Edgeworth was awake again yet.

[He arches a brow as if to say, 'That's it? That is what you had to ask?']

He isn't. If Sanada is correct.

It has, Nakago.

You were very thorough, but I have not yet finished them. What is most important?

Things that would require your attention first are on top. Matters of little importance are on the bottom. I made the assumption that you would prefer the organization upon your return.

[Javert arches a brow. Color him impressed.]

Anything that needs immediate attention?
