[audio] [locked to Mikaela / 10 % unhackable] WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY BENNETT DOES NOT LIEK ITfolkloristloreNovember 1 2010, 15:52:57 UTC
[Bennett's been awake for a while now, trying to figure out WHY HE CAN'T SMELL EVERYTHING anymore, it's kind of wonderful, even if his eyesight has taken a nosedive again. Beyond that, his own personal nightmares have been keeping him awake-- Mikaela's text startles him first, and worries him immediately.]
Have you, uh-- I mean, it won't be like, a coma-coma, but... lavender? Lavender oils, they, uh... it's a really peaceful sleep. Very calming. I can see if I can find something for you?
[He wonders how... well, effeminate, that really makes him sound that his first thought is lavender oil instead of like... calcium supplements. It's not like it's a secret here, though, so he shrugs off the thought.]
[Greeeat. He closes his eyes, as if not looking at her will help him get the words out.]
I-- There's this guy.
[This already sounds stupid in his head. He's used to living with an incredibly homophobic lot, so he decides to tailor his story a bit.]
Person.
Here. On the boat.
And there's this, this... other guy. Person. Who likes hi-- the first person.
After... after I... attacked all of those people the other day, he might've... threatened me within an inch of my life to never go near him again.
[Derp, did he miss changing those pronouns again? He didn't notice.]
So, I've been up trying to convince myself that he's right and I should stay away, and I just can't, I, I, I... but, my, uh-- part of my brain is trying, uh-- I've been getting a lot of nightmares. About, changing, about attacks....
[He winces. He's just proven himself, in his mind, to be the single wimpiest guy on the planet. Awesome.]
[Mikaela sees right through his tailoring, but she isn't faxed at all. She leans against her dresser, eying him carefully.]
So...person number two likes person number one and feels threatened by you being friends with person number one?
[She folds her arms.]
Sounds like someone has a controlling boyfriend. [Been there, done that. To be honest, Mikaela has just given up dating at this point.]
You're having nightmares too, huh? [Hence why she's up.]
That...sucks. I used to live...with Bee, my good friend from back home - when he was here, I stayed in his room. Then one day he just disappeared again, and now...
[He murmurs something about Herz being able to do better before the rest of her conversation catches his attention. His expression immediately softens before fading into concern.]
N-no, not at all.
[He manages a bit of a smile.]
No, I... I don't blame you. I... I would be losing a lot of sleep over that, too.
If Herz left, I'd.... yeah.
[He's being sincere. Screw hiding it from her. She won't care.]
And I haven't even known him that long.
I'd lose sleep if you left, too. I... you're not pathetic.
[She glances over at him, giving him a sad little smile.]
If you can imagine losing just one of us...try to think about what it's like to lose someone you were in love with, or your best friend. People who cared about you, you're friends and people you've considered family.
I've...
[She shrugs her shoulders and straightens. She won't cry. She's done her crying over all this already, hasn't she?]
Almost every single person I've gotten close to on this boat has disappeared.
[And she just can't take it anymore. Hence the whole no sleeping, nightmares, blah.]
[She grins - but she has a hard time believing him. Not because she thinks he's lying to her, but because she's heard this so, so, soooo many times before.
A puppy. He's, uh... all I could find, I was looking for like, a... teddy, or something.
[He grins a bit.]
Just a pal for you or something, I, I don't know. Let's see... oh, it's lavender tea. Or lavender extract tea. Something, some, some kind of lavender-related tea. I brought the whole box for you.
[He continues fussing with the stuff he brought while she gets to inspect the puppy.]
Y-yeah, it's.... uh, really crazy. But--- yeah. I don't know. Maybe someone has as much sleeping as you do and needed... a whole suitcase of the stuff.
I don't know.
It's a theory.
But... I'm glad I could help. Maybe this'll do something.
[Commentlog] hi im jess and im full of late and failchopshopgoddessNovember 8 2010, 02:39:35 UTC
You never know - I've found stranger things there.
[She grins at him and hugs her little stuffed dog again and reaches to give him another hug. It feels good to do that, even if it's someone she still doesn't know ALL that well.]
I really appreciate you bringing this stuff, seriously.

[He runs a hand through his hair, clutches his hands together, trying to still himself before talking-- he doesn't want to talk.]
It's--
You're not going to believe me if I say it's nothing, are you?
Reply
Not even a little bit, no.

Not that.... not that they wanted to leave, but... hey, I have no intention of ever going home, so.
I'll be here.
For quite a while, I'm sure.
If... if it means anything.
[He just doesn't know what else to say.]

So uh, what'd you bring?

This is so cute.
[Wow, he'd really managed to find everything, hadn't he? She listens as she bounces the stuffed puppy on his shoulder.]
Wow, you really went all out, huh? This is all great...
It's really sweet of you.

[He uncorks the little vial.]
This, this is pure lavender extract. Pretty potent. Sprinkle it on your pillow, lay d-down on it... you'll drift off in about fifteen minutes or so.
....Aaaand the pillow I brought you is a lavender-scented thing.
[Pause.]
I, I found a whole suitcase of stuff.

...
Wow, I see that. Looks like you hit the motherload of all things lavender.
