I like this idea - typical Jack not to think it through until he's actually AT the fountain!

Mind you, I can't help feeling that, being Jack, he would have an empty bottle handy (or a full one that he could make empty) so he could take some water of life back to his young, vibrant, brave, passionate other. (A puzzle that, because it's an odd way to describe either Barbossa or Bill Turner. So who can it possibly be?)

LMAO! Especially the bit about Leaving him never able to join her on the other side. Didn't know they had sex change operations back then. Quite fascinating.

Of course you're right, he'd undoubtedly either fill a bottle or simply return to the fountain with his (ahem) other, but hey, I had to keep it to a hundred words. :)

It's fantastic.I like that he didn't want immortality because he remmembered that he never would be with his love if he'd drunk that

Or at least wouldn't be able to be with her past her death, after which he'd have long eternity facing him. Different perspective, eternity. Thanks so much for commenting!

This is beautiful. It's more moving than a lot of much longer fics I've read. Very well done. :D

Thank you! Drabbles can be really nice that way, forcing you to encapsulate the essence of an idea, which is a very elegant form. I've enjoyed trying to do the idea justice, and I'm so glad you like the result!
