Feeling much better today. Still not perfect, but so much better I'm not going to focus on it. :)
Our damn dogs have figures out how to open the front gate! Last night they got out (briefly) before Jeremy got them back inside. We thought, perhaps, the dirt had gotten into the hollow metal stabilizer pole- it happens from time to time- and the gate

my older lab just sails over the fence, there's no way to stop her, but she always comes back if you call her name or if she sees you out in the yard. the younger one tries to pop the latch with her nose, so i just took the clasp of her leash and locked it into the hole on the bottom of the latch and she hasn't gotten out since. I'm sure when she gets a little bigger, the older one will be a bad influence and convince her to jump the fence though.
