College versus high school

Please do not fret over having a lead one year and being in the chorus the next. To be honest, your grades and your college vocal audition are what are going to matter. The fact that you continued with the musical this year will speak volumes for you, especially since you aren't a lead after having been one. My daughter is currently studying to be an opera singer - so I have some knowledge of this and speak from experience.
This is a difficult career choice as there is more competition than there are opportunities, so what matters is that you believe in yourself. Not what anyone else thinks.
Good Luck - I hope this comment helps ease your mind. I'm happy I chanced upon your entry.

Thanks for your reply. Your comment did give me some comfort. It's funny that your daughter is studying to be an opera singer, because that what I plan on going into myself. Some of my other friends who study opera also said that their "operatic" voices have prevented them from becoming leads in school musicals as well, so I guess I'm in good company! Thank you for your kind thoughts!
i cant believe you, i looked up to you not only as a singer but as a person and after i just read your blog, man i have lost so much respect for you!!! why would you do that!?!
I'm sorry you feel that way Anonymous person. You know you really took me by surprise considering this blog is over 8 months old. Here I check my LJ and some anonymous person is saying "you suck!" Kinda threw me for a loop. yes, it was wrong for me to say these things, and I feel bad if anyone was hurt by them, but haven't you ever been frustrated like this? This was pretty painful for me, and I went on here to vent privately. I don't want to sound conceited, but that's the only compliment I EVER get-"you have such a great voice". It's kinda hard to live up to everyone's expectations like that. To only be known for my "great voice" and then to let everyone and myself down, I was extremely upset and frustrated. Like I said before, I'm sorry if you lost respect for me, but hey, I'm a person too. So sorry. Hope you'll read some of my other blogs and gain some of that back. If not, well, I don't even know who you are so I won't really try to defend myself further.
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you earlier. I got a lot of crap about this from people. I'm assuming you're on of my friends, and I hope you can forgive me for the entry and my rude reply to your comment. I hope we will still be friends and that you can forgive me and respect me again. I'm a person too, and sometimes I mess up. So, again, I'm sorry for being mean.
P.S.-Is this Amanda F.? If so add me as a friend. Even if it isn't, friend me.
