Tis is fantastic, honey. So true to what I see whenever i see Dean and Cas on screen, tDean's frustration is palpable and Cas's confusion - and understanding finally - comes across so well in such a wonderful balanced way. Love that this time, when Dean asks about the war, Cas opens up and says what's going on and why it's weighing on him so much. Love the entirety of Dean's speech: sometimes you just have to do what you have to do because nobody else will. Such a wonderful comment on the whole first half of the season with Dean, and on what Cas is having to face with his war.

"So, let's just keep making things up as we go, eh?" Dean smiles, fingers playing with Castiel's tie, attempting to straighten it. "It's kinda what we do best."

Love this line. It's so true.

Oh, thank you love! I'm really happy this rings true to how you see them on screen too. Dean's frustration and Castiel's confusion are both so understandable to me -- I wanted to really expand on the idea of why Cas is reacting to Dean's decision in this way. How Cas's own leadership role is playing into how he sees Dean right now. I also love the idea of Dean explaining human emotions to Cas (teaching him sort of in the way he taught him all the other things Cas talked about in the fic). I also wanted to explore the idea that Dean is someone that Cas can look at as an example of a leader who is forced to make hard and really terrible decisions.

Love the entirety of Dean's speech: sometimes you just have to do what you have to do because nobody else will.

I'm glad this worked. This really defines for me the similarity of their roles this season. As well as the fact, as you mentioned to me yesterday, that Cas is faced with the similar question Dean was faced with during S5 -- peace or freedom?

Oh, bb, thank you! This is my personal canon for what happened after the epsiode ended. I'm so frustrated with canon for these two right now, so I definitely needing to write some fic that gives some backstory to the emotional turmoil both these characters are going through and how that bleeds into their interactions with each other. I wish canon would give us some D/C exploration so bad!
