Does the gender of your BFF matter?: No.
If this is a restamp, please indicate who you were stamped with and why you are reapplying.: N/A.
You say up, I say down.
Define friendship in your own words.: Friendship, to me, is being several states away and still being able to be close. It's having stupid little inside jokes that no one gets, but they still make you laugh 'til you've split your sides. It's having things in common but even more things that set you apart. Friendship is a learning experience if you've got a good one and something I cherish greatly.
Are you the type of person to have many friends who aren't quite as close, or very few but very close friends?: The latter. I can count my friends on one hand and I'm very close with them.
As an extention of the previous question, do you make friends easily?: No. I'm polite enough sometimes, but I don't trust people, period. It takes a lot to earn my trust and for me to consider someone a friend.
Tell us about some of your interests and beliefs. Is it important for you to have these in common with your friends?: Unless they're a deranged psychopath, my friend's interests and beliefs are their business. It's nice to have things in common with your friends, but opposing viewpoints - as long as you aren't getting downright nasty about them - are what make the world go 'round. It would be a terribly boring friendship if you had everything in common.
Describe the relationship you have with your current best friend.: It's a godsend. The song I used for the titles in this application basically puts it in a nutshell. We're two very different people. We have varying interests, varying goals and varying thoughts. What really matters, we do have in common. But I'm constantly learning new things from and about her. She's not afraid to call me out when I'm being a jerk, which I can always appreciate, and she's stuck with me for years in spite of hardships on both our parts. That's true friendship, if you ask me.
And I ain't too proud to say...
Name five of your positive traits.: Confident, driven, focused, calm, loyal.
Name five of your negative traits.: Sarcastic, cold, critical, overly blunt, headstrong.
Which of these traits, if any, do you like to have in common with your friends and which do you not?: Definitely confidence, determination and loyalty, as far as common traits go. I want to know my friend is my equal, because I really tend not to get along with those who put themselves down/have zero confidence in their abilities and who have little motivation. Laziness and excessive amounts of insecurity are two of my biggest pet peeves. And, of course, I think loyalty is a given in any friendship. As for not having things in common, I could probably do without the outright coldness. I have enough of that for the both of us.
Is rivalry acceptable in a friendship for you?: Absolutely, as long as it doesn't start destroying the friendship. I'm a very competitive person and I enjoy that in friendship too.
In your group of friends, what role (e.g. the leader, the prankster, the sweet one, etc.) do you tend to play?: Although I never actually had a real "group of friends" in school, I was a "reliable leader" to the ones I did have, I guess. I got followed around a lot, and I can't fathom why. I was the one others came to when they had problems, needed someone to lean on, needed help with homework... Like that.
You've been a friend to me.
A great and terrible war has been waging for years, slowly taking towns one by one. Many have fleed, taking to lives of crime, revolution, opportunity... Others have picked sides, choosing to fight for their beliefs. The rest remain in their village, waiting to protect their homes with everything they've got. In the grand scheme of things, where do you see you and your friend?: Gone. I will not tie myself down to a sinking ship unless I feel I have no other options. I'm not a savior, and I won't try to be. Hopefully, the village will be smart enough to pack up & go, and my friend will think like-mindedly & join me. I'd intend to travel and make money where my services are needed. Like a mercenary, I guess, so long as the job doesn't go against my personal values.
It seems one of the armies have captured you for reasons they neglect to enlighten you with. You do happen to overhear them saying they're going to feed you and your friend to the antlion, which means - you guessed it! - escape sequence time. Tell us how you and your friend escape death's clutches. Be creative!: Go along with it for a little while, and when we're about to be fed: tame the antlion - or at least persuade it that eating the soldiers would mean a more filling meal than eating us. From there, open up a good old-fashioned can of whoop ass. You know, sword fights, hand-to-hand combat, throwing objects, screaming soldiers getting eaten by a hungry beast... That kind of thing.
Bummer. Despite your efforts, the leader of said army has come and put a complete halt to your shenanigans. However, they're actually impressed with your skill and want to enlist you as high-ranking generals in their army. Your friend is worried that if you and them decline, you'll be killed on the spot; they seem more inclined towards accepting the deal. On the other hand, this army did just try to kill you because you happened to be standing nearby. What do you decide?: Although I'm more than certain we could escape before we get killed, I'm inclined to agree. It would be an excellent means of inside information, taking down the army from the core. I won't betray my own values, but as long as I see opportunity in the situation, I'll take my chances.
Well, whatever you decided is pretty much a moot point now. For some reason, the leader of that army decided they wanted your friend, not you. Through some charm and quite possibly some mind tricks, they turn your friend against you. What are you going to do now?: Fight to put on a good show. It won't matter if we end up a little battered, because we probably came out worse by sparring on our own time. I'll escape after that, and look for a way out for them if they can't weasel out themselves.
And what about your friend? Is this some clever ruse to get on the inside? Are they possessed? Are they truly out to get on the "winning" side? Give us your thoughts on what might make your friend pull something like this.: Remember that trust thing? I don't just throw my trust around, and I'm entirely confident that my friend is just playing the game for the same reasons I would have: inside information. Not to mention, it saved both of our lives from getting slain by evil army leader.
After some drama and many hardships, you and your friend are eventually reunited just in time for the final boss fight. How does the reunion go? Is it bittersweet, pure joy, angry-- something else entirely?: Probably joy in the form of some playful snark and teasing. I wouldn't hold it against them because I would have done the same thing. I'm pretty sure that was a wink or a look they gave me when they "switched sides" to tell me they had an ace up their sleeve.
Finally, the credits are rolling and giving some insight on the whereabouts of everyone after saving the world. Where are you and your friend?: My first thought was racing/sparring up a steep mountainside. Heh. I imagine we both would be devoting a lot of our time to restoring our old village, as well as others', to their former glory.
A godsend to me.
