Went on an interview today. Looks like it might be a waitressing job and they'll call me in when they need me. It's a hall for weddings, et al. That will be useful in a sense. my mother didn't sound thrilled about the idea but I've been out of work for almost a year and it can be a jab to the ego when I feel badly for taking money from my parents

What about girl tux-like dress? A white long sleeve shirt with all the frills and thrills of the white undershirt for tux, but you'll be wearing a skirt with black stockings and black shoes? Does the banquet hall have very specific requirements for these tuxes? I just think you'll be awesomely cute in a skirt instead of a full-on male tux :D

Sending hugs...what a mess. Maybe your mother doesn't understand how difficult it is to find anything BUT a waitress job right now. And the suggestion about the girl tux-like dress is good if they don't have a rule against it.
