Acutally at the moment I am pretty much into Chai, and since I am to lazy to go through that procedure every single time I love to drink black tea ( ... )

Oh, sind wir wieder bei Englisch? ^-^ Auch gut! :)

I don´t like black tea .. or let´s say I haven´t found one that tastes good ;)
I really like green tea, especially Japanese and Chinese ones :) ... from time to time I also drink flavorede green teas, but they are NOT as good as the "original" ones ^-^

*lol* Tee-Ei XD ... I´m using a filter like this *points to the thing IN the teapot*

That was actually (<- rah XD) the first time I ordered my tea online, because (dont´laugh!) I right now don´t have time to leave the house and buy it at my usual dealer´s shop XDDDDD *coughs*
Oh there are a lot of good tea online shops out there. I can give you some addresses if you want :)
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!! I also looooooooooove to smell the different types of tea!! ABSOLUTELY *freak* XDDD ... but as I told you above .. that´s the reason why *sigh* (T-T) .... also it gives me the chance to try out stuff that my local tea dealer *lol* doesn´t have ! ^-^

XD
Oh ja Gewürzstände/-läden sind was Tolles!!! (*____*) *high* XD

Na ja, ich hab auch schon den ein oder anderen Fehlkauf getätigt, aber meist besorg ich mir nur 50g Packungen, da kann man nicht sooo viel falsch machen und ich will eben (fast) alles mal probiert haben ;)

I do the let-the-leaves-in-the-teapot thing, but the teapot has a filter where it pours, so only the small leaves get past. :) We always make Maeda-en, since that's what we have lying around...

Ah, I see. But doesn´t the tea taste bitter after a while?? I mean Maeda-en is a sencha, too, so it should taste bitter if you brew it for more than 5 minutes?! (^^)

We don't brew for more than 5, usually, and we add on more water to lighten it up a little bit. :)

Ah, I see! I´ve heard of that method :)
Perhaps I should try it, but it´s really hard if you´re alone XD You have to drink the tea fast then ;)

I set up a filter with the tea in it, heat the water to somewhere between 165 and 180, pour some in the pot to heat it, dump out the water from the pot, put the filter in the pot, brew it for 3-3.5 minutes, and remove the filter. Mainly because I'm a poor college student and I tend to make A LOT of tea I make a second extraction, but not a third.

Also, the "darker" the tea, the more caffeine it has, so yeah, green tea's pretty low on the caffeine. Matcha does have more if only because you essentially drink the whole leaf. If you really need the caffeine, you're better off with an oolong or black tea, which are still relatively low in caffeine compared to coffee.

Mm yes. I don´t like black tea that much :/ ... I have an Oolong tea at home as well (pear flavored XD) ... but I´m not fond of this as well (^^;)

I see!
Well I´ve only made a second extraction once and it wasn´t really different from the first one plus I´ve read that all the healthy active substances of green tea are gone in the second extraction.
I´ve also heard that some teas taste MUCH better with the 2nd or 3rd extraction. Guess I´ll have to try it out and see for myself ;)

Actually, for a lot of green teas, the second infusion is better than the first! For most green teas, I'll do the first infusion around 175°F for 2 minutes, the second for 3 minutes, and the third for 4-5 minutes. I use the same kind of filter as you do. I've found that flavored teas (green or black) don't tend to rebrew terribly well, so for flavored green teas, I do one infusion at 3 minutes.

As for the caffeine issue, I really don't know which green has the most. Though if you're interested in experimenting with black teas, you might find flavored black tea to be more palatable at first.

Yeah, I´ve read about that! At least that it tastes better! But all the healthy active substances of the tea are obviously gone with the 2nd/3rd infusion.
But this is really interesting! I´ll give it a try and make 2nd infusions for some of my teas :) and then I´ll see ^-^

I haven´t found a black tea I like (T__T) Perhapse I really should try a flavored one at first :)

I'm actually not very fond of tea. Bad memories of it as a child. I tasted some of it from my mom's cup and since she doesn't put any sugar in it, it tasted nasty...and I've avoided tea since then. Like mustard. Thought it was honey and squirted a bunch of it onto my tongue and *barf*...Lol...

But I've really wanted to try Green Tea...since like...forever! XD;;; Even though one of my friends did say it tasted like grass...but I think they were talking about the cheap ones you get at like Tim Hortans or something...teehee! My teacher actually told me about the really expensive one she bought...I think it was a pound for $100 and supposedly it tasted really good so I realllyyy wanna try it. XDv You make it sound so yummy too.

You know the only tea I think I can actually stand so far has been Bubble Tea. Probably cause it has the word Bubble in it so it sounds less evil...but I love it. And since I live in Canada and it's really popular here, I can get it from anywhere. Yayz~ XD

I see. I think I understand ;)

Oh I´ve read about bubble tea just a while ago and it sounds pretty interesting. I´ve never tried it though~ ^-^

Uh yeah, there are REALLY expensive Japanese green teas! Especially Gyokuro!

You should definately put Bubble Tea on your things to try list! XDv I recommend the Mango Flavoured Bubble Tea. I think they have Green Tea flavour too...;)

What's the most expensive one you've bought so far?
