Sounds like you had a great vacation in spite of the rain. From what I have heard, it rains a lot year round in Okinawa.
That huge "butterfly" is really a moth [as further indicated by being nocturnal]. It is large and beautiful indeed. Apparently a South Asian insect.
I am fond of those blue tailed lizards. They are skinks. There are 2 kinds. One, which you see in the US, where the males lose the color as they mature. The other kind is native to Australia. I remember they were very common in Egypt [don't know whether the tail stayed blue]
No doubt it was fun to snorkel and especially to dive!
Not really. It's definitely different from Yakushima! ;) It was fine for over a month. The only problem was that there was a typhoon nearby and another one was about to come. And eventually it didn't rain as much and as long as they predicted! :)
....i really wish i had traveled as extensively as you do during my time in Japan. you're so good at finding and planning out the best vacations. :'( *jealous*
and omg, the photos of the water and wildlife are to die for! i wish i had got beyond the main island.... ;(
Do not ask how much stress and work it is to plan those trips - especially when you travel as often as I do. I've mentioned a few times already that I've gotten tired of it and don't want to do it anymore. Especially when everything goes wrong like for my last few trips (e.g. 2 weeks of rainstorms in Okinawa last time with absolutely nothing to do ....).
However, I'm so glad I decided to try once again this time. It was really worth the effort (and all the money .... T_T ...)!!! ^___^
I know what you mean, but I'm sure I will have regrets as well. There's still so much more to see, but never enough time (or money). At some point I'd love to visit Hawaii or Australia as they're so much closer to Japan than to Germany that I'll regret it if I don't visit as long as I'm still in Japan! And you've already been there!!!! (*_____*)b
I'm so glad you could finally spend a great vacation! :D And despite the smartphone and all those things, it was nearly perfect *-*.
I'm in love with the nature, specially the sea. It's so freaking perfect! I've never seen sea like that - ever in my life! I really need to go there! ♥.
I've also never seen a sea like that although I've been in Okinawa before ... for two whole weeks! But if it's cloudy or rainy it won't "sparkle" like that. The colors won't be bright at all. It's even hard to tell how it WOULD look in good weather! ^^;;;
But in good weather it's truly paradise and I'm soooo happy that I finally got to see it with my own eyes! ^^
