Hellou~
What's with that stupid Facebook / Twitter cross-posting, privacy-invading shit?????
Grrrrr!!!! ...
Anyways, it's time for the next travel entry already
I've been quite busy with planning my future and getting back into my Japanese studies, but I wanna keep updating my travel entries at least ^-^;
This time the castle hunter in me came out again
and so I went to
Okazaki which is only a short train ride away from Nagoya.
Actually I think some of you might have heard of Okazaki as one of the most famous Japanese language schools is situated there (the
Yamasa Institue!!).
That's where I originally wanted to go but didn't have the money for! XD
Thus, the people there are quite used to foreigners (that can speak some Japanese ;P).
The lady at the tourist information center also thought I was from that school after talking to me in Japanese for a few minutes *lol* XD
Here we go!~
Okazaki (August 10th, 2010):
It was cloudy and gray again, but super humid.
At least the sun was not trying to burn me, so that was good news :D
My first photo in Okazaki was THIS! XD
It takes a while to get from the station to the castle, but you can definitely walk there!
On my way I took photos of weird or funny things I came across :D
This divider (between pedestrian path and road) was really nice.
Sorry! I just thought the painting on the truck was cute!!! Don't you think? ^-^; (refuse disposal service XD)
And then I arrived at Okazaki Park that surrounds the castle.
No, that's obviously NOT the castle! It's a royal phone booth (jk!) XD
Garden clock! XD
The park was not too big but had some really nice things to discover. Some statues a Noh stage, a museum and nice flowers! :)
Yeah, that dude IS famous ;P
Then, I suddenly had to slow down, because you know me: traditional Japanese setting + cat = me freaks out!!!!!! :33333
And there were TWO of them!! So cute!!! Took tons of photos (*__*)v Tehe~
Next to the castle was a shrine, but it was under construction as you can see :(
And the castle (*_*)v
Small, but nice!
Also a nice view from up there (apart from the crappy weather, of course ..)
Here you can see that the castle was really right next to the shrine :)
I was playing around with my camera to get a nice shot of that fountain, but ... oh well.
And there was a beautiful swan, too :)
There was a really nice garden next to the Noh stage and museum :)
I played around with my camera's settings again to make it look a bit "milky", but it's difficult. If I set up the shutter time to be too long, then the picture will be way too bright! :( Need to buy filters and stuff some time.
Funky pond :D
Byebye castle!!
I could have gone to visit the Miso production company thingie. Okazaki is famous for a special type of miso.
I tried it a few times and it's kind of reddish and the taste is much stronger than that of "normal" miso. It was okay, but I prefer the "normal" one.
Anyway, I decided that I don't have enough time, so I didn't go there.
Furthermore I was hungry, so I went back to the station because there were some smaller restaurants.
On my way I took a photo of this cute gully :D
My lunch!! (*___*)
It was so busy there that I had to wait forever, I almost starved (and missed the bus I wanted to take to my next destination, grr!)
Because I just missed the bus, I went to a shrine near the station first.
It was a small and quiet shrine, really nice! :)
It was a really nice location to take some good photos! :) I enjoyed it a lot!
Sometimes the small, not so popular/famous things are the better ones!!
The "don't leave dog poo here' signs are always quite cute in Japan XD
Flowers on my way back to the station to catch the next bus to a pretty old temple (+shrine) a little bit outside of the city center.
The bus stop was really in nowhereland, but it was beautiful!! :D
And here we are:
Takisan Temple (滝山寺), built in the 7th century, and the adjoining Takisan Toshogu shrine (considered to be one of the top 3 Toshogu shrines in Japan, together with Nikko and Kunozan). (source:
Wikipedia)
Haha, caught you!!! Not sharp enough, though ;o;
Really old!!! And apart from a Japanese family there was nobody else there!! Quiet, a bit creepy, but still very nice and relaxing :)
I took my time to take photos of many details :)
And down there, there was still more to see!!
Nice flowers again :)
Back at the bus stop, waiting :)
.. and taking some more photos while waiting XD
After that I returned to Nagoya and ... surprise, surprise!!! It was raining again!!!! So I decided to go shopping for the rest of the day.
I had to buy things for our trip to Mt. Fuji anyways, so I used that chance and went to Daiso to get cheap stuff XD
Message board! XD Found in one of the underground shopping arcades. (I think that was in Sakae?!?)
The messages are funny and cute. No, I didn't write anything XD
Tehehe. I just couldn't pass by without taking a photo!!!
The drama is funny. I love dorky Nagase-kun, always have. The drama is not the best, though. (Actually I'm totally into Joker this season!! Natsu Niji is nice, too, though.)
Camera used:
Pentax K-x I went back to the hotel and shortly after that my brother arrived from Tokyo!
The next day we spent together in Nagoya. I hope you're looking forward to the next travel entry.
That's all for today.
It's already past midnight here and I have to get up early tomorrow because it's garbage day again (it's almost every day this week .... GRAH!!!)
Good night, good fight! (^・^)/~
