I said "panties", but my daughter (age 21) thinks that's the squickiest word in the history of "Eeww", so...to each her own. I think she prefers "underwear".

Is this for a fic or are you just fixating on underthings this fine day? "Drawers" is sort of a "country" expression, and I've seen that work if you're going for a Texan flair. And of course, "knickers" and "bloomers" are completely un-American. But then, you probably weren't looking for an essay. :-)

Hehe, yes it's for a fic, although i can't lie and say i haven't thought about all the different names there are out there lol

Thanks for the info, btw, i thought "Drawers" was just the british. See, you taught me something =)

I recognize all of these words as being names for underwear, but I only actively use "panties," "undies," and "underwear" in my everyday life. "Bloomers" and "thongs" for me are specific subsets of underwear, "underpants" has always been a term for little kid's underwear (ymmv). "Knickers" is British or ugly short pants we used to wear in 1982, and "drawers" sounds old-fashioned and/or regional to me. "Briefs" for me is men's underwear--traditionally Y-fronts (or whitie-tighties/tightie-whities), but if you throw "boxer" in front of it, it becomes the most yummy of men's underwear, and what I presume Sam and Dean to wear :-)

Ahem. I have underwear issues. It's a thing.

Yummy indeed! *wink*

Personally, I'm with you on this. Panties and Underwear are most commonly used here in UK.

Hee! Such an informative poll this is! lol

Yes.

And oh so very much YES. Actually we've seen Dean wear them very early on, I want to say in Phantom Traveler? I know you couldn't have forgotten that slow camera pan up a sleeping Dean's body. Seriously.

Me, too. Apparently. Since I've now made like six comments on this entry. *facepalm*

Oh believe me. I haven't forgotten. Not only do I have multiple LJ tags associated with my underwear fixation, but I have developed a truly disturbing ability to spot any flash of underwear our show supplies and often freak my friends out by listing them and/or pausing the DVDs to point them out.

*points to reuse of icon called "undies+hands+gun+gun-down-pants=ded of kink"*

*is wrong in the head*

Panties, definately panties. We had bloomers in Jr High School, but they were these hideous faded yellow elastic (almost like training pants for toddlers) that went over panties in our equally hideouos faded yellow snap up gym uniform.

*gags on the memory*

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Plus cheerleaders wear "bloomers" to keep from flashing their underwear, you know, with the short skirts and all.

Oh i remember those. I wasn't a cheerleader, but I we wore skirts during hockey and netball and we had disgusting green coloured bloomers! lol

My daughter was a cheerleader in eight grade - if you ask her she will say she repressed the memory. But they called them "spankies" or something like that. The things I wore were really like plastic training pants toddlers wear. (except they were not plastic, they were cloth)Elastic around each leg and around the waist and they were PUFFY. I suppose they were supposed to do the same thing that the "spankies" did but these were just gaggingly horrible. Luckily after my first year in that school, they changed over to shorts and a tee shirt.

DAKS FTMFTW!!!11!!!!

It has to be daks. Always and forever. Unless you are writing fanfic for Yankeeland, in which case it has to be panties.

*blows them a raspberry*

Hi baby! How are you?

Panties Panties PANTIES! lol sorry. Aww, I hear you. I think cause it's used so often and informally with my friends (not that I talk about panties alot *clears throat* um...anyway), I'm just used to it. Plus, deep down, I am still a child. lol

I wouldn't use the 'panties' on all occasions though. For example, it wasn't a friend or someone I knew, it would most likely be 'underwear'.
