I've really missed these two - thank you so much for writing them. I love what you have done with them here. They are both fascinating monsters. Both alien to each other and to the world in general. This is just gorgeous work - thank you again.
I've got to say, I didn't think I would like this at first, but I loved the way it got very dark very quickly. I imagine there's more than a little darkness behind Julian's ready smile, but what really sold this for me was your portrayal of Richard Bashir: a man who knows he's pissed away his life trying to vicariously capture success by pinning every hope he has on his child. Excellent work.
P.S. Much love on the Enterprise/Starry Night icon.
Thank you! I know my Richard isn't very canon, but I always imagine him this way. And after the Dominion prison and the revelations about his enhancements, I always saw Julian's smile as deception.

Bashir's first time, well, I kinda got squicked when he started talking about his childhood after that, it wasn't /that/ horrible was it?
...or does The First Time, in this title, refers not so much as to the virginity that Garak expected, but the first time they were just together?
